Objectives of the Society:
The objectives of the society established for managing Abdul Nazir Sab State Institute of Rural Development, are detailed below
A. To function as State Level Apex Training Institute in the field of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Administration and related areas
B. To promote study of relevant fields and factors contributing to the improvement of economic development and social wellbeing of the rural areas and for this:
i. Undertake and assist in the organisation of Training Programmes and conduct Research, Action Research, Conferences, Workshops, Seminars and lectures etc.
ii. Undertake, aid and promote and coordinate research through its own or other agencies including Universities, ICSSR Research Institutes and Training Centres established by or with the assistance of the Government of India or the State Government or any other reputed institutions recognized by Government of India or the State Government under the prevailing law.
iii. Establish Centres/Schools for (i) Decentralised Planning; (ii) Local Governance; (iii) Livelihood and Technological Initiatives; (iv)Research, Evaluation and Documentation and (v) Community Empowerment etc.
iv. Analyse and propose solutions to specific problems relating to planning and implementation of various programmes of Rural Development, Panchayat Raj and similar programmes.
v. Follow up the training programmes organised by the training centres and to advise the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department and any other Ministries and authorities on their training programmes
vi. Prepare, print and publish papers, periodicals, books and e-learning materials etc.
vii. Establish and maintain libraries and information services
viii. Collaborate with other Institutes, Associations and Societies in India or Abroad interested in similar objectives
ix. Establish networking with other Institutes, Non Government Organisations and Civil Society Organisations for ensuring conducting of Training Programmes.
x. Offer fellowships, scholarships, prizes and stipend in furtherance of the objectives of the Society etc.
xi. To organize, promote, disseminate information in the areas of social science research and social sector development
xii. To identify gaps in the implementation of Development Programmes and suggest remedial measures to the Government
xiii. To document Success Stories, Best practices etc. in the areas of Decentralisation and Rural Development
xiv. To cause the publication of Research Reports, books, monographs etc.
xv. To undertake all other activities to promote development and empowerment
xvi. To assist the Government of Karnataka in the policy formulation and policy analysis and suggest remedial measures
xvii. To do all such other lawful things as are conducive to or promotes rural development and Panchayat raj in all its facets with a non-profit making motive.
